Our market fresh fish is a real treat. As you know, with our traditional service, one of our friendly drivers delivers the fish to your door and you have the flexibility to portion the fish just as you like it and cook some up the same day. If you run out we have courier deliveries every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, free for orders over £75.
But why not stock up and keep your freezer supplied with premium quality fish and seafood, ready for when you need it? Freezing is an ancient and natural process and doesn’t involve the use of preservatives. It’s perfect for your busy kitchen and locks in those vitamins and minerals that deplete when fish is left in the fridge.
Freezing is an excellent way to avoid waste and extend the shelf life of your quality fish, saving you money.
Did you know you can cook fish from frozen? Fish has different enzymes to meat, making it a more flexible choice for the freezer. Cooking fish from frozen ensures you have a quick and healthy meal without the pressure of forward planning, putting out a portion of cod to defrost in the morning and then having a craving for salmon on the journey home from work! Simply add a few extra minutes of cooking time and you’re guaranteed a perfectly cooked portion of succulent fish every time.
We have very high ethical standards at Regal and when fish like lemon sole and plaice go out of season we stop purchasing them. Freezing means you can buy seasonal fish at their peak and have them available all year round.
We’re often asked if the fish that we provide frozen is the same quality as the fresh fish that we deliver. Absolutely! We buy the highest quality fish available and freeze it down as quickly as possible. The quality we provide is outstanding and we always provide a best before date to give you that peace of mind.
Freezing also means you can experience beautiful fish and seafood whose natural environment is not in our waters. Species like tuna, Cape hake (a great alternative to cod and haddock because of its Omega 3 content) and fresh water prawns are made available to you from responsible sources and at an excellent price.
In the next article we’ll be looking at how you can freeze your own fish to ensure high quality every time and also a few tips about cooking fish from frozen.
